Another bike ID. Bit easier, this one: 80s Cannondale

Took delivery of this this evening. It was a bit of a bargain (look at e brake calipers) and the seller swore that it was all original. I don't agree, as specialised cranks on a dale seems unlikely.

Frame:?
Wheels: Spesh hubs to mavic MA40. The free hub has an odd locking system, not uniglide and no visible locking. Anyone got any ideas? It's 7 speed so may be a freewheel.
Cranks: Spesh (possibly made my Sugino?)
Rear mech: Suntour Superbe
Front mech: Suntour cyclone
Stem: Spesh (definitely made by Nitto)
Bars: Spesh
Headset: OMAS
Brakes: modolo master pro (!!!)
Brake levers: Dia Compe something
Seatpost: SR Laprade

Question is... Is it original? Also, what year is it?
Least said about the massive scratch in the seat tube the better... It's still rideable as far as I can tell.

Other than that scratch it's in fantastic condition, the running gear is unbelievably fresh looking. Excuse the battered flite. Anything was better than the MTB saddle that came with it.

I've has a quick look through the catalogues and can't find it. The mix of bits seems strange to me, but thankfully it's mostly very high quality!

dunno,i would love to try out an early cannondale one day. interesting, looks like you have a steel fork.i suppose at the time alluminium forks were in the pipeline. ,the seat post looks older but the overview is they are all? jap so could be the original group set.i'd love it or a klein.

Re:

I nearly pressed the button on that, it's lovely but I had to resist! Have you looked at vintagecannondale.com? you may find something there. I'm guessing its from around 86.

Ah ha. Thanks. Obviously not original, but I'm not complaining too much!

Now to decide what to do with it.... I usually really dislike downtube shifters on large diameter tubing, but this does seem to just about work. I've got a steel frame that would appreciate most of the running gear from this, so maybe a slightly more modern 6600 group on this...
