All S-works and no play......Alternate Build ? 16/06

Its only a mock up...not set for riding ( yet )..I just chucked the saddle on the post and wacked it in the hole...

I do have some Cannibal UG' and a Pro-long saddle...but I want to ride this bike in anger...and not just stare at it...

Hence the saddle and modern tyres ......i like these and have always rode with them..

I will try it with some other stuff..and mock it up with parts closer to the original kit packages available.

Good saddle there, sell it to me if you don't want it. Better still, some yellow Onza Ules would pick up the touches of yellow theme nicely with the Mavic signs.

The worst part for me is the very long/low front, harking back to the road mentality that was still guiding mtb design back then. I'll bet you'd prefer the handling with a shorter stem with some rise to make it livelier (and the stackers below not above).

With that and the excellent wheel/tyre combo, this could be a great bike to ride, timeless classic style. I think it's important to respect the spirit of a bike, and a steel S-Works was meant to be ridden fast and enjoyed, not to be a garage queen.

Thought i would try a more retrotype build for the purists among you.

Doubt it will stay this way...but maybe...perhaps with some XT V's and different wheels...

So now with

Specialised C/set
XT m737 pedals or maybe 730's
XT m738 R/mech
XT m738 f/mech
XT m738 Cantis
XT m738 STI's
Specialized ( nitto ) post
Pro-long Saddle ( cro-mo )
Ritchey Vantage Expert on 730/2 ( 7spd ) so would need new freehub.
Cannibal S UG tyres.
Specialized Ti trick release QR's

Or maybe I might try throwing some m900 at it.....as I've got some wheels coming up from Dan sometime soon.

Love the "factory" spec variant. I'd at least try it with the long stem, that's what it was designed to have, after all ;-)

Pretty damn near perfect.

Leave it like that.

Put the spanner down, put your lycra on and enjoy it.
