Agree fully, the original stem was too long and killed the handling. I've just put a 120mm 20 degree Syncros stem on mine finally replacing a dodgy steal Avenir unit that was about 140mm / 45 degree rise. It's sharpened the handling up again - maybe too much for me right now but a bit more riding and hopefully my skills will cope.
