22 gauge headset

Saw a 22 gauge headset advertised. Does anyone know how big this is and would it fit a 1 inch steerer?
Cheers

As a pure guess, when I was in bikes in the 1960's, the head tube was 1.25 inches diameter, by 20 guage. 22 G could mean that the inserted cups are larger. This would have nothing to do with the fork column.
In that case inserting the cups would possibly crack the head lugs or stretch the head tube.
You can look up the difference, but I'm still guessing.

So the standard guage tubing was 20 guage. the frame is Reynolds 531. would that mean that it would be unlikely to fit?

Just to add that my head tube is 1.25 inches but the width of the steel is 2.8mm which makes it guage 11?? am I doing something wrong?

cheers

Wilf,
As I said, pure guesswork, and ancient memory, I just looked up Brown Brothers catalogue for 1952, and find 531 head tubes 22 gauge.
So my first guess was probably wrong.
And spelling "gauge" is right.
