A few years I arrogantly described a Ti Spaceframe as "the Emperor's New Jones", to my eternal shame sharing this ill founded opinion loudly and within earshot of the owner 
Fast forward a couple of years and I got to have a go on the same bike (the owner didn't realise it was me/overhear my comment or was classy enough to have dismissed it as drunken rambling). It wasn't a long ride but I was surprised how good it felt as I expected my unfounded prejudice to be confirmed and it wasn't. A longer ride would have been good but wasn't really possible.
Prices for steel are lower than ti but still pretty strong although comparable to high end steel I guess.
