They are the same as those $300 bar grips - but thankfully these ones came with the bike!

Lawn is beyond saving, it’s mostly dirt and dog eggs!

Not after 1991/2. The last evidence I've got of racing with toe-clips and straps is on my Pro-Flex 550. After that is was clipless/SPDs all the way.
Having toe-clips with straps on a few bikes in the fleet is actually quite handy as I tend to plump for one of those bikes for my post office runs! Never do them up though - that's just madness, and I'm sure would lead to me toppling over!
