1994 Campagonol Athena brifters compatible with modern brak?

So I have a 1994 Bridgestone RB-1 which was built up in 1994 with a full Campagnol groupset. It had been barely used by the guy who bought the bike from new ( the clear plastic cover protection on the head tube badge still hadn't been pealed off even!). So it rides and shifts like brand new.

The only "issue" are the single pull 1994 Athena calipers.

I am thinking to replace them with some modern dual pull calipers. I just saw a pair of Shimano Ultegra Brakes BR-6600 Come up for sale near me for $30 (I have time to get them 5 hours from now).

Beyond the obvious dilemma of breaking the group set, will these brakes work with my brifter levers reach?

Re:

yeah, i have run older campag ergolevers with shimano brakes before, no issues but remember that you effectively end up with 2 quick releases on the brakes, one at the lever and one at the brake, i've seen people set them up with one open for some reason.
