Okay, so I think that I have finally built my Hot the way I want it. I finished the build last week and took it out on my local trail to see how it felt. Steel is Real my friends! It handles like a dream and will be my race bike this summer in the local MTB series here in Seattle and down in Portland.
At first I was going to go for the Full Monty. Repaint, new sticker kit from Gil plus a NOS XTR kit with the original Kona Titanium seatpost and a Titec Titanium stem. I even had a NOS P2. But, I really wanted to ride it and I felt that if I went all the way it would probably end up sitting in the garage collecting dust. So…….here it is.
Frame: 1993 tubing built in 1994
Wheelset: Chris King hubs laced to Mavic 217 Citron rims
Crankset: Race Face Turbine Lp
Brakes: Paul Moto-lites
Levers: Machine Tech
Headset: Chris King
Plus: Thompson Stem and Post, Easton Bar and Paul Melvin Chain Tensioner
