Wanted a retro bike for a while now and it had to be the 1989-1992 era in steel.
Back then I rode a 1990 Marin Eldridge grade ( worse bike I owned ever) up until 1992 then i got a 1992 Stumpjumper comp ( very Nice ) which followed later by a M2 ( second worse bike ever and the only Aluminium Mtb I have ever owned.)
Top of the list for a retro build was a 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex (I know, I know no hope and Bob hope).
Then next up was a 1991 or 1992 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp, then a 1991 Stumpjumper Team pops up on the radar and im thinking Suntour XC Pro hmmmm.
My memory of suntour was okish but for me they were always in the shadow of shimano and when I was spending x amount of £'s on a MTB suntour was never an option for many reasons 2 of which were the social norm/advice of the time and that an xc pro version of a bike was always a little more money ( if i remember correctly).
So now I have the opportunity to test the Xc pro out and I'm rather looking forward to it.
The bike was in ok ish condition although nothing really worked on it but a complete rebuild new cables chain and block plus grease and oil will sort that.
Also the frame is in good nick with only a few surface rust areas.
