I love that video. Mud would be a problem for sure. We have a few places here that get mud crazy but only for a few weeks every couple of years.
Steel is the way for me as well with Cannondales being the exception. They are kind of their own thing. Love them. My main ride for many years was a early 90s M1000 that I rode the crap out of including street trials. Had three cracks in it and it never gave out.
