J,
If it was me (and it's not) I'm thinking red pinstripe and the red Schwinn watersticker on the seatube to accent those rims.....

That's what I'm thinking actually.

Any tips on putting on the water sticker?

I decided I didn't like the chrome Ashtabula stem (on p.1) and found a black oxide version that need some refurbishment. It's date stamped 1978 as you can see in the first picture.

Sandblasted:

Primed with some Duplicolor self etching primer:

After some sanding and another coat of primer, here's the Finish Coat in Eastwood "Zinc Phosphate" paint:

Hopefully the frame will be back from the pinstriper later this week.

In the meantime, my buddy clearanced the TruVative bottom bracket adapters. The counterbore in the shell isn't as deep as the adapter is thick.

I think I have everything now, so it should go together pretty quickly :D

The good news is that I got the frame back from the pinstriper.

It looks great! It was done by Bob Strucel in Westland, MI. His contact information can be found here at the "Business Directory" page:

The bad news is I guessed wrong on the bottom bracket and need a longer one, so the build up will have a short delay... :(

Finished the build today. Very happy with the results :D

Nice use of the MX seatpost clamp!

Good eye. Thanks.

As far as I can tell, there's no such thing as a 1" brake arm clip, and I couldn't bring myself to use a hose clamp.
