One of my absolute dream bikes is a Pro Comp XT with a u-brake, like in the 1989 catalogue. Alas I think this was catalogue spec only and by the time the bikes were shipped to dealers they all had cantilevers. So one day I’d like to build my own version 😄

For a more left field option there is USE. 92-94 era. Cool posts but up to you if it fits or not with the build theme/mix of parts.

Great spec, lush colour scheme and it is wonderful to hear how good the ride experience is. Like having a brand new bike! It looks so good with those straight forks.

Wow, that is very cool. So many details to take in. At first I saw the stem and bar colour and thought - no. But now I like it. I would personally go with a black saddle as it’s a bit more subdued colour, but the blue is also ok - it ties in with the blue on the bars.

That looks fantastic. Very classy colour choices. It’s like you went to Roberts in Croydon and got a brand new bike! I often think, with these custom made bikes, ‘who originally ordered this bike and what type of riding did they do?’ I also like the clean look of the frame, with no attachments...

Cool bike. What year was the frame made? I guess with lugs it must be an early Roberts MTB?

What a beautiful bike. Steel frame elegance. How is the ride? Looks like a stretched riding position (as per the early/mid 90’s) - still comfortable?

Have you tried using a black permanent marker pen to touch up the scrape? They are good at hiding blemishes.
