    1983 Kuwahara Count

Wow, I had a Kuwahara Pacer hybrid in the 90s, but I never realised that they also made pure road bikes.

Kuwahara Pacer Hybrid 1989/90 21" SOLD

After over twenty years in my possession I've decided to sell my Kuwahara Pacer Hybrid. If this was an Ebay listing I'd be putting "RARE" in the title as they are they are quite a rare bike to find as it's from that short period of time in the late 80s early 90s when Kuwahara made non-BMX bikes...

    Shimano 105 hub/cassette advice ?

They look like they are early HG hubs so they should be capable of using both UG and HG cassettes.

The number of speeds 7/8/9? that the Exage set uses may determine whether or not you will have to upgrade derailleurs etc.

    Help identifying/assessing an Elswick Hopper?

I seem to remember that Elswick were very much at the lower end of the market, so personally I wouldn't buy it at that price unless you particularly want an Elswick.

Banana Railegh bike cassette and chain

You may need to fit a spacer on the freehub as most modern wheels are designed for 8/9/10 Speed cassettes. Also have you actually tried to fit the wheel in the bike as most 80s frame would have been designed for 126mm wide hubs whereas most modern wheels will be at least 130mm wide.

Can I buy modern wheels for my retro bike?

When I was browsing the Chain Reaction cycles site recently I did notice that they are selling some NOS Shimano RSX rear hubs that use cassettes and are 126mm wide, so you could get one of them made up into a rear wheel. Of course you would still need to source a front wheel...

Are all reynolds 531 bikes light? solved

I think that your bike would look a lot better with a more modern seatpost if you can afford one as that old style one kind of ruins the look for me.

    14-32

It's probably because chainrings have now got smaller. Years ago your average road bike would have a 52/42 and tourers/MTB 48/38/28, whereas now it's typically 50/34 on a road bike and 44/32/22 on a MTB.

    Kuwahara Pacer

I must have a very early version then as mine is fitted with the Deore groupset that existed before Shimano introduced the LX/DX variants.

    Kuwahara Pacer

Very nice! I've got a 20 year old Pacer, but it has the pink and black livery. Also is the Deore XT groupset the original specification as mine only has the Deore groupset. Edit: I've just realised that yours does have Deore, it just seems to be the later chemically blacked version. I notice...
