'98 Explosif rebuild project (aka scrapheap challenge!)

Khane - thanks for the tip on the ride nr Ashby. Sadly I'm not East Mids based anymore, I'm up in Leeds. The Leicester link is that I grew up over the border in Northants and BITD before t'internet I'd always take the opportunity to call in to the decent bike shops whenever I was out and about...

17" STEEL KONA - MID 90'S- ANY CONDITION PLS.

Here's the link to the other thread with some pics of the bike (worst bits anyway)!! http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... highlight= Mike - I'll PM you back, just put the link on here as it's more accessible I think (but I'm new to this malarkey).

Baj - its a '98 Explosif. A planned project which I don't think is going to happen now unfortunately!!

No problem - actually just realised I already have some pics of the forks on the bike I bought them with. Here you go. I'm also in Leeds which could be convenient!! I haven't ridden them so can't fully vouch for condition; they seem ok though but would benefit from a clean. Some other nice...

17" STEEL KONA - MID 90'S- ANY CONDITION PLS.

I have an 18" (c to t) '98 Explosif. Bought as a complete bike, but now stripped down. Original paint and graphics (missing the 853 decal from seat tube, although you can see where it was), but a couple of dents, plenty of scrapes and stuck seatpost. The guys at Bob Jackson in Leeds seemed very...

    Old fork manuals

Check this link out for downloadable manuals for Marzocchi, Rock Shox and Manitou. http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id12.html This may be very old hat, but I'm new to this lark and stumbled across the link while looking for info on my '98 Z2's, and thought I'd share the joy!

'98 Explosif rebuild project (aka scrapheap challenge!)

Thanks all for further comments etc. Just spent the afternoon stripping her down, unfortunately the news hasn't got any better. I'll take the frame into Jackson's or Woodrup's (thanks for the reminder on that) next weekend and see what they think about the dents and the stuck seatpost...

'98 Explosif Thanks very much to Anthony and ernie. Just trying to post some pics but it does look like a '98 Explosif. Appreciate the link on the decals - good to know there's an alternative to those listed on ebay. I think I may take Anthony's advice and hold back on anything drastic...

'98 Explosif rebuild project (aka scrapheap challenge!)

Hi there Just become proud owner of what I'm reliably informed is a '98 Explosif. Thanks Ebay! It's definitely been through the wars and I'm looking forward to restoring it to its former glory. Always wanted one, since the days I could 'only' afford a Fire Mountain back in the mid 90's...
