I guess now i'm officially crazy.
Instead of getting on with my one and only Marin build i got me a new bike. Since you all are guilty 'cause you made me buy another one you could at least let me know what you think of it. :)
I got it from its original owner who said he rode it 2 times back in 1992 through the alps and since then stored it in the back of his shed.
The original foam grips had some cuts so i put on some Ghost rubber grips. Ok enough with all of that...

Here is the part list:

Frame: 1992 Wheeler 3900 Pro Line Aluminium O.S. Tubing

Fork: Oversize 1 1/8" Blade
Headset: Y.S.T.
Stem: Tioga Avenger T-Bone

Grips: newish Ghost grips
Barends: -

Rear Derailleur: Shimano XT RD-M735
Derailleur Cables: Shimano.
Cassette: Shimano HG 12-28T/7 Speed
Chain: Shimano
Cranks: Shimano 300LX Crank Set 48/36/28 SG Rings
Crank Bolts: Some nameless bolts that keep the cranks in place.
Chainrings: Shimano 48/36/28 SG Rings
Chainring bolts: Shimano
Bottom Bracket: Shimano
Pedals: Suntour XC LTD

Hub Skewers: Shimano XT
Rims: Black Alesa 36
Hubs: Shimano HB-RM50

Saddle: 1993 Selle Italia Flite black, perforated
Seatpost: Sakae SR TCO
Seatpost Binder: Shimano XT

..and here are the pics.

This is actually very nice. You won't find many Wheelers here, not much love for them either. If it was in Taiwan special BoTM you would get my vote. A proper far east bike and great looking too.

Sell me pedals !! :P

Nice bike. My mate had one BITD much lower spec, pink white and lime green from memory, it had a nicely designed and built Cro-Mo frame.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Now i guess i know who possibly gave me that one lonely vote for my Muirwoods, too. :-)

I think Wheeler bikes are underrated. They did a lot of useless stuff but they also did some very fine things. I can really see no difference to what Marin or Trek did at that time. Same colours, same component choices and so on. Really great 90ties flavor.
I would not wonder if these frames came all from the same taiwanese manufacture.

I can understand that there is not much love for Wheeler bikes but i can't understand why there is not one single Wheeler catalogue in the archive?

Where is the wheeler love?? I was trying to sell mine but decided to keep it for now, they always seem well equiped and they certainly ride better than some popular bikes with 'the brand of choice on'. Nice to see another one on here, and looks very nice too.

The yellow selle italia in the background, what is it from or if race for which rider????
