Hi all found a bare frame in the scrap pile today and it looks a bit tasty. Does any one know what models of Saracen sported a externally ribbed down tube? It's had a horrible paint job at some point so I can't see any serial numbers.

Any help identifiying this frame would be appreciated. Thanks all

There was a tubeset called Tange Spiral in the early 90s. There was a frame that was sold by lots of builders, but AFAIK not by Saracen.

Have you any pictures?

Tange spiral butting was quite different from the ribbed Tange Ultimate Ultrastrong down tube. I would be surprised if the 93/94 Explosifs were the only bikes to use Ultimate Ultrastrong down tubes.

thanks all so far, will probably be able to get some pics next friday as thats the only day the workshop is open.

kili something sounds promising though... any idea who it might be?

its definitly the ultimate ultrastrong tange tubing the same as used on the explosif, not the spiral tubing although that looks pretty cool too.

hey presto. Check the tubing in the gap between the chainrings - you can see it's ribbed.
