they were added at C &G after they found holes in the top of the seat tube where the seat post had been stuck

think they look very vintage, better than just filling with braze and filing flat
 
Very nice. I have a soft spot for Gios.

How come it had holes? Corrosion?

Either way, it's a nice neat way of dealing with it.

It seems that the seat post was seized in and during it being removed the tube got damaged from the inside. When it was stripped before re=painting holes appeared.
C&G in liverpool carried out the neat repairs and excellant paintwork.
will be finished this week and out for a ride next week !!!

The frame looks like it's from the mid 1980s or later, but the Brooklyn Gios team ran from 1973 to 1977, according to:

The frames would have had a flat crown and cable routing above the BB shell, amongst other differences.
 
Gios Evolution is indeed a later frame, but Barry's not saying it isn't - this is a homage to, not a reconstruction of the original team bikes.

Original Brooklyn bike was with the graphics Barry's using. Evolution looks to be pretty much identical frame bar the Gios engraving in the BB shell - and probably lighter tubes and wider rear hub spacing. Recessed brake bolts are also a modern feature.

Oddly enough - there is similarly drilled elongated lugwork on the fork crown of my Super Record - nice little touch there.

So what kit are you putting on this?

Perhaps the thread title "Gios Brooklyn replica" needs to be changed.

Also different fork crown, top eyes, cable routing, probably different lugs and braze ons, so not really "pretty much identical frame".

It would be the equivalent of taking a late 1980s/1990s Raleigh frame and refinishing it in the red, yellow and black TI Raleigh colours and graphics.
