XLM update (and first ride!)

The forks were as I bought them - they were powdercoated by the original owner just before he sold them and although I initially thought of stripping and respraying them I decided to keep them as they are

Most excellent - I'm with the fork lovers (as an ex-Bomber man!). You could change the colour seasonally mind, and it would look like a new bike each time! What about period wheels - or at least silver spokes...??

Is being an ex-Bomberman another Dad's Army reference?

I did have silver spoked wheels on it and very nice they looked too but the chance to get the very light, very stiff Mavics was just too tempting to pass up on.

That said the bike is not very period correct with it's Thomson post and stem and Avid Ti v's although the thumbies and RC30s do address the retro balance to a degree.

What year is the frame from? Looks skinnier thn my 97 XLM, keep looking for older classic melrins on the bay now but so is everyone and their dog! Lovely looking bike, and more fork love from me :)
