Freehub Question

My ancient RH STI Ultegra shifter has just died, [rip].

A long look on ebay shows little in the way of 9 speed Ultegra or D. A. replacements but lots of choice in the way of [whisper it] 10 speed.

It seems that the freehub is the key to everything groupset wise, so my question is how can I tell if the freehub on my Mavic Cosmic wheel will take a ten speed casset?

Any help / advice would be much appreciated.

I'm not too familiar with 10 speed stuff (none of my bikes have more than 8 rear sprockets) but I think Shimano hubs that take a 9 speed cassette will also take a 10 speed. At least that's the way I interpret the way they're often advertised. Don't buy a 10 speed cassette just yet though, wait for someone who actually knows what he's talking about to confirm my story first ;)
