1998 GT STS-DH Lobo Full Build

Bit of an update. Lobo build has been on hold for a while. Been desperately trying to source a set forks that match the quality of the frame better than the current Junior T's.

After much searching I finally sourced these

Bit overkill and heavy as............ But pure bling just what this bike deserves

It'll be finished by Xmas

Nice fork
Solid and easy of maintenance
and the look !!

Forks arrived, it's mint.

Just spent 30 minutes getting it on and here's a few pics (sorry about quality done with my phone :(). I'm thinking WOW!! These forks are in a totally different league  The only problem with them is, need some bumpers and may need a new axle as the Alan Key head is starting to get a bit rounded

Jobs to do

Bumpers for Stanchions. These forks definitely need them, if they lock up they could easily cause serious frame damage. Any idea where I can source them from?
Cabling for XTR gearing
Change Hose for longer one on front brake
Put the Hope Hose guides on for rear hose routing (existing guides will need modifying with my Dremel - nerves of steel required)
Source a half decent wheelset

Nearly there will put some better pics up when I get my camera back off the missus, hopefully when you see the next pics it will be finished.

 That is the fork for that frame,no question about it,match made in heaven
Looks totally scarily awesome  more like match made in hell, its what the devil would ride

Yep the forks are the business. Xizang will them bumpers fit these stanchions?

If anyone's interested I've been playing on photoshop. If you want a copy PM me. Not perfect but pretty good copy with a bit of artistic licence. Far better than a blank frame

Also found this whilst browsing the web, pretty small but could be the basis for a new set

That's what I was thinking. BUT as they're rubber, albeit firm, they should stretch a little as we'd only be talking 1-2 mm. Any easy way is to boil up the kettle, drop them in for a few seconds and put them on quickly. Gloves of some sort are advised.
Or hairspray again. Pity thet don't do them with lock-ons.....
What size are the tubes as the bumpers are on X-Vert r's.

Bit of an update for you

Mavic 321 Disc Rims on Hope Hubs, 20mm Front Standard QR Rear

Fitted Hope Hose guides to frame. This did require some persuasion with a Dremel

Although this frame is mint and appears never to have been built up, the Decals are very brittle on it and have flaked off in places. Near impossible to source new Decals so Gil came to my rescue with a nice set of reproductions.

Still need to sort out the cabling for the XTR gears, job for Boxing Day afternoon :) Final jobs are to extend the hose on the front brake and fit the chain - voila finished.

Some Pics

Decals
