I had been looking for a bike to restore for a while, I was originally after a 1990's Kona, but then this came along:

DiamondBack Axis
I think it has all the origional parts on it except the saddle, rear mech and chain (posssibly the chainrings).

Tange Prestige Frame
XT thumbies
XT f. mech M730
XT M730 cranks with Specialized rings!
XT headset
XT hubs (smoother than my 2008 Stumpy!)
Tange BB
Onza bar ends - as new
T Bone stem (Prestige)
XT M732 levers
XT M733 calipers
Onza bar-ends (as new) - my dream part when I was at school!

It's been de-mudguarded and de-panniered, but thats all I've had time to do so far.

Does anyone know what the exact year of manufacture was? I know it was late 1980's due to the groupset.
Or any other info on it?
Also I don't ever remember Specialized making chainrings?
Or finally does anyone have a copy of the catalog from this year?

Thanks.

Pretty sure it's an '89. Though I'm sure to be corrected by someone more knowledgeable. I think there are a few of those on here. Generally much loved. I think you've got yourself a good one.

it is a 1990 but they were avaliable to some moore and large shops late in 89. they were the first with the smoked paint. which is hard to find in good condition. the green lable araya rim stickers are also 90 kit.

I sold a few of those , they are great bikes. watch for the odd sized bb axles.

cheers
pete
