seatpost question

if you dont know the size of the seatpost required how do you know the size required

heres what ive done so far...

used digital vernier to get internal seat tube dia
which is:

26.50mm

so should the seatpost be a 26.4mm or a 26.2mm

bear in mind that the vernier measurement is only at the top of the opening
it may change a little further down the tube

can anyone help

what sort of bike is it? Is it likely to be on this list?

good bikeshops will have a tool a bit like those ring-sizing tools that drops into your seat tube and stops at the correct seat tube diameter.

it wont be on that list

its a 1998 sunn trials frame

just looked and the sunn notion from 1998 is there and thats 26.4
so as long as they used same tube then that sounds right

i might try the bike shop

if anyone has the ability to vernier there frame and seat post and tell me the difference - it will give me an idea

eg say your frame is 27.2mm internal dia and your seatpost is 27.0mm then that gives me a good idea of the tolerance
