^^ How do you like your bankrupt Saracens ride quality compared to other steel frames? I bought one from them too (a 17" unpainted one) that actually measures 16.5" from center to very top :? so might be 1" too small for me (177cm/5ft9.75 height). Those 19" ones don't look that big. Were they always a lil' undersized?

It's been too long since I rode any steel frame so I'm not the best person to answer this.

I'm 6'1" and the seat post height in this picture still allows me to sit on the saddle and touch the ground whilst in tiptoe position, perfect for kerb height ;)

1997ish Hard Trax

Went up a couple of Munros near Loch Lochy last week and took Mrs P's Hard Trax to enable rapid progress along the forestry road
Bought new from Halfords in Bromley around 1997.......quill a-headset adaptor and different bars fitted, otherwise standard.......

A bit small for me but performed admirably. Just needs a bit of TLC in form of replacement noodles and the odd bolt and yes its still the original rear tyre :D

That original rear tyre looks very much like a Panaracer Dart copy and I reckon it'd be much better as a front tyre.
Plus that semi-slick tyre you've got on the front would work much better on the back.
Swap 'em around and see how it goes.

Nice place to be riding by the way. :)

Right then, I've stripped down my recent eBay purchase (many not very careful owners).

The BB is defeating me at the moment, but nothing a big vice at work wont help shift.

The majority of the frame looks sound, but the non-drive side seat stay will need looked and one of the cable guides on the top tube is a bit mashed(see below).

Can anyone tell me more about the original spec of the Kili Pro? Most of the stuff I stripped of this is doesn't look original.

Any can anyone recommend a frame builder/resprayer in the west midlands?

That's lovely, same colour and decals as my old Traverse elite, which was a '92 model, True temper AVR tubing. If it helps, I will list what it had on it and you might have a guide for the same if not better parts;

Groupset was XT with thumbies

Headset was XT

Pedals were Victor lightweight alloy and black cage with ' Saracen'
toeclips and straps

Stem was Zoom

Seatpost was Kalloy ( in fact same one as was on my '93 tufftrax, now surplus to requirements)

Seat was a Saracen number, leather on foam

Rims were Ritchey ? Vantage pro ( US flag with vantage pro label on rim)

Tyres were Ritchey Megabite 2.1 skin wall folders with kevlar bead

Stainless steel spokes

Hubs, not sure, possibly XT

Cassette, XT silver

Chain, silver

Bars, silver Kalloy

Seat clamp, a wire uno design, which was very good

QRs, were XT

Brake levers, XT two finger

Bar grips, am sure were Saracen, but they did'nt last long.

Above listed was as it came from the bike shop, when I lost it, it was original bar a set of specialised bar ends , crud claw and panaracer smoke on the rear and smoke lite on the front. I really must find that photograph of the thing.

Oh, the frame number was EO 7..........., I got it written down somewhere

Actually, the `92 Saracen catalogue states the kit for the Kili Pro was DX, black Magura hydraulic rim brakes, and the saddle is a Saracen Competition black leather number with the word `COMPETITION` written on both sides of the nose. I have one of these bikes and when its finished I`ll put it on this thread.

Carbon Blob, if you send me your email address I`ll send you a copy of the catalogue page. you`ll also notice a slight difference in the geometry to your frame.

I'd like a scan of the whole thing please....if you can do it Hi-Res PM me for my email address and I will then convert it to PDF and share it on my server.

Is it possible you might also have the 1991 catalogue?

I lost mine years ago and have spent the last 3 years looking for a copy elsewhere
