Which bike do I have!?

Hi all

I bought a bike second hand as a 16 year old and used to race it for 2 years and now I'm 34 years old, I am starting to dust the cob webs off and do a bit of cycling again.

I am wondering can you help me idetify the bike please.

Its a Peugeot SLX. Probably 1999?
Chromed fork ends and vertical drop outs.
Pink at the bottom, rising to black / dark grey.

The only picture I see on the net is from Robert Millar riding those colours.

Wodner was it a "Z" replica team race bike?

I got a feeling its this bike/frame

Same chroming, same lugs etc.

Wonder is/was it any good?

Is there a paper sticker on the chainstay with a model number? Pugs from the mid eighties on usually have these, but the problem is that owners tend to remove them.

Any photos?

Being built from Columbus SLX I would say it was a good frame. Very tight clearances and steep angles, not bad at all. Well worth cleaning up and making good for future retro events!

I'm not a specialist but your bike falls into my personal catagory of "NICE". Good tubes, decent groupset and Sweeeeeet paint job. I'd be well happy if I had just dug that out of my loft....

I'd say it all fits into the 'nice kit but not top dollar' category - the frame is a good quality one from really decent tubing, but it's not a boutique framebuilder, and Campag Athena kit is the real deal, but again not the top-end Record stuff which costs a fair bit. For road then the big money goes on things a bit earlier.

To me it's the kind of bike that will be stunning value for money and a rider not a garage exhibit.
My guesstimate is £200-250 for the bike whole, but £250-300 if you broke it for spares and sold them on a good day on ebay. Those prices don't do it justice, but reflect what people will pay, sadly.

Thanks a mill for that, thought that too.

Was toying with the idea of a new bike, but I just love this one as it does everything I need and its rock solid compared to other new cheaper frames I've ridden.
