I've mentioned this before:
I'm the lone cyclist, miles upon miles on whatever happens to take my fancy.
Roadies - miserable f***ers at the best of times, 40 somethings on a £3k bit of carbon as I waft by with my Campag Deltas and car boot sale frame.
XC - lycra everywhere! pissy little bags of tools and crud guards, looking like an explosion went off in the Halford's accessory department, trying to hide their beerguts. They look at me incrediously as I go, wait for it, UPHILL WITH MY 48T BIG RING and cantilevers...
Kids - they're cool - 'nice bike mate!' - I'm cool daddio.

You'll be glad to hear I know exactly why I ride ...
Firstly my bf got me back on a bike for the first time in 10 years not that long ago, and secondly I re-discovered how much fun it was getting wet and muddy and getting some exercise at the same time!!
I'm now hoping that my family is going to buy me a bike for Xmas, a Scott Contessa 30, not retro I know :roll: , but at least I might be able to keep up with the retrobike bf on it!! Lol!!
