1973 De Rosa

I am testing the water with a 1973 De Rosa I recently acquired praying it would fit me, but it just isnt working for me.

Its 56cm ctc seat tube and top tube.

Its sat in a garage for 20 years and has 47 years worth of patina but still looks great in the sunshine.

Nuovo record throughout with nuovo super record large chainring.
Headset and bb are super smooth with no play.
Pantographed cinelli stem and pantographed NR seatpost.
Wheels are junk and want replacing but they are round and they roll.
Id love to keep it but it'll just be an expensive ornament.
Frame is solid and not rusty or cracked but paint has marks the worst being under top tube where its been hung on bike hooks, chrome has patina chainstays being the worst near to the seat tube join. All lug joints are good.

No idea how to price this as they rarely come up for sale. Id rather it go to a collector or someone who will love it rather than strip for bits. I know what the panto parts and other components are worth but as a complete 47 year old bike, its a rare and beautiful thing...

Had some advice on price.... lets say £1250 0no

I havent seen another like this for sale under 2k but they're restored and near mint bikes..

Too much? Not enough?

Re:

Wonderful frame but I think that it has been repainted at some point in it's life and this is due to the decals which do not appear correct for the age. It's still very good.

Re:

I was told it came as a bare frame in this colourr so the original owner put the decals on... dont know how true that is though. 1 owner from new.

Re: 1973 De Rosa unrestored

Definitely a repaint, non original decals yes, but more importantly De Rosa like all other Italian builders at that time did not do lug lining !

Re:

Ah ok.. so perhaps in 47 years its had a repaint.. shame. Is it worth putting period correct decals on then? Or leave as is... still lovely though... :)

Re:

There's been some debate ref the rear mech as it says nuovo record on it not super record yet it has the black knuckles. Its patent 73 the year SR was released so is it a super rare early SR before the ti bolts etc or just a NR and been painted to look like SR? Doesn't look painted but you never know...

Re:

The rear mech is I think Nuovo record painted black to look like a first edition mech.
If it had have been a first edition, yes it would have been rare.
Very nice bike anyway.
