Well, to contradict myself, I happened upon this -

and when i say "happened upon" i mean i picked it. The Clash are probably my favourite band and i was listening to Death or Glory and thought i would click on this afterwards - The Clash - The Clash is an under-rated album - big time and you should all buy it.
Anyway, to get back on topic, i am sure Police and Thieves is a cover, the original is a reggae classic.
