I voted for the Ridgeback.

I love really love the Elgin build and find all the work that went into it inspiring, but it wouldn't be what I voted for for BotM.

the longer you look at the bikes, the more difficult it gets.....so went for my first choice: Gleiss

An abundance of entries this month and some really nice contenders. I had a tough time choosing so decided to discount any bike that had the nose of the saddle pointing down as I think it really spoils the look of even the best bikes!

Apart from the cro-mega, the other saddles some consider to be 'pointing down' are actually much more correctly set up; the nose of the saddle is level so that it is easier to remount when you have been out if the saddle...

...I don't like the 'raised nose' attitude so the saddle looks like a spoon! I also find that when a saddle is set up like that it digs me in the n*ts constantly! :x

Elgin got the nod from me. Nice photo too which ads to the appeal. Also love those Merlins.

The Elgin is awesome! Lots of work involved and the kind of bike that wants to get ridden.

However, there is a recently posted bike that should be an equal contender with mr_ship's 1986 Salsa Scoboni, and this is rogue's 1986 Fisher Montare (see the pic). May be next month then.

You are going to put a mass produced bike with the dork disc still attached and tires that don't match up against a custom made fillet brazed Salsa Scoboni?

You lost me there but PM me, I have that same green Fisher frame in the garage. I took it apart as a donor bike a year or so ago. Not as pretty as the frame you pictured but you can have it for the cost of shipping and a little patience.

I do accept your point about the utterly fabulous Scoboni, it really is a thing of beauty like a vintage Ferrari say. But there's room for appreciation of all level of vintage/retro bikes on this forum whether high end exotica, hand crafted custom, or mass produced. Not all old bikes have to tricked out with the accepted components and bling bits to be worthy – they can be just someone's beloved bike from bitd, which I think counts for a lot. It's about fun and enjoyment at the end of the day, in the scheme of things, and we shouldn't take it too seriously to the point of disparagement. Lets keep it positive and creative.

As much as there are things I like about the Fisher, I've only room for one bike at the mo – I've enough to contend with my partner's magpie-like tendencies. Thanks for the offer though.

Matt24777's 94 Kona Fire Mountain
heehee.

mr_ship's 1986 Salsa Scoboni
Didn't I just vote for this one recently?

Nader's 1991 Merlin Titanium
Toe clips! Thank God!

Sebastian's 1995 GLEISS MTB Monobox
need to learn more about Gleiss'. I have no knowledge of them at all.

I just can't vote for colored tires.

Anyhow...good lot. Great job, guys!
