It's both a lot of fun -- and a huge challenge (or at least learning experience). I'd never ridden a fixed gear bike before. I'm slowly progressing toward more dirt riding (fire roads now and hoping to get to some easier single track this weekend) and more city streets with stop/go, etc.samsbike":1ek4w96f said:
Although it's hard to directly compare to other bikes, the handling and ride are great... which is good because learning to ride fixed gear on a twitchy or ill-handling bike would be a nightmare. The fit is perfect -- obviously the outcome you'd hope for (expect) on a full-custom frame/fork/stem).
Now if I can just get the mounts, dismounts, etc. to be a little smoother! Thankfully no wrecks or super-embarrasing moments yet.
