Ellsworth Specialist

I'm rubbish at the teaser sort of thread, so here is my wife's new (to her anyway) fully formed Ellsworth Specialist.

When we moved to North Wales she mentioned that she wanted something for the steeper stuff, so we had a look around and found a used Specialist on ebay. You don't see many around, but it seems a great little frame. It's light and it looks strong. We'll probably need a longer travel fork at some point - i had the 105mm Marzocchi lying around and it seems ok for now but might be a bit short on the steep stuff.

Anyway a brief summary:

Marzocchi MX Pro SL 105mm fork
XT 10 speed shifters, mechs, cables and 11-36 cassette
Middleburn RS8 x-type 170mm duo crankset with 24/36 rings running on Hope BB
Hope Mono M4 brakes with 183mm floating rotors
Stans Arch rims on Hope Evo2 hubs with Michelin Dry2 2.3" tubeless tyres
Gravity Dropper post
Renthal Fatbars low rise cut to 700mm
Race Face Evolve 70mm stem
Hope headset
Hope QR seatclamp
Time Atac pedals
ATI skinny mushroom grips
Fizik Vitesse saddle

Karen is happy with it, so all is good.

Thanks. Karen always takes her time and buys herself really nice stuff and her bikes are great whereas as I am a bit of a bottom feeder/tinker and end up with a rolling scrap heap. If I try and sneak parts off her bikes she notices too.

I think you're right about the fork. It looks just right and she's only 8 stone so it's not going to be diving massively. I was a bit foxed to start with as I read that these frames could take a 140mm fork.

that is a lovely bike..!

remember seeing the blue version of this in the magazines back in the day and majorly lusting after it!

not keen on the look of dropper post on it though.. the big boot kinda spoils it..
(think they're essential though on the gravity droppers though to keep the muck out arent they?) but i wouldnt be without a dropper now on my bike!
