Austin was the same. My Ma picked me up from school one day and without realising her keys opened the door to someone else's Orange Maxi. Luckily for them, a my Ma is a dreadful driver, she realised her error only when she went to turn the radio on and found it was a different make and model to when she parked up 5 minutes beforehand.

I bought a Nissan Silvia (steady now) 2.0 16v (the now uber rare one) in about 1997 - sold it on, forgot about it until I bought a Silvia 1.8 Turbo in 2005. I found a key with 'Nissan' on it and thought it was a spare to the 'new' Silvia. Went out and tried the car, unlocked it and started the engine - thing is, the missus had accidentally gone out with the Silvia key, spare key and keys to her own car...
Vauxhals were the same! one night on the way back from a training session at the local leasure center, the old man pulled over to the side of the road, flicked the interior light on and asked me if our car was a manual or an auto? auto I replied as we did a u turn and headed back to the car park... same model, same colour, same key! just a different gearbox

Me and my brother when I was 13, he 15 came across an abandoned mini on the lane near our house, I started the engine with a padlock key, the guy that had abandoned it was trying to do an insurance scam, unfortunately he learned that you don't abandon things in small villages as everyone sees you and talks to everyone else :roll:
