Surly Moonlander

First ride with new tires today.

Just a lazy 11 mile trip to quayside, quick bite to eat then through city centre to jesmond dene, then home.

They buzz and hum like an angry swarm of bees!

Grip is unreal....you can just plough it into mud and wet ground and it doesn't slid away, but the muck and spray these things through up is shocking!

They self clean really well.....all onto your face and body though.....must keep the mudguards on!

Looking forward to a proper day out somewhere.

Good to see you again yesterday Salty. Some great pics, and the county seems to have survived three Moonlanders in the same vicinity.

yeah mate, was good seeing you!

imagine the next fatbike meet when about 7 moonlanders will be there!

Woke up to 4-5" of snow today.....surprised everybody.

Anyway, got some 29er crud guards in post last week and wanted to try them out.

Under £20 and the rear is 5" longer and quite flexible compared to the old design, strong though.....the front is unchanged.

It had rained for an hour after the snow finally calmed.....meant the whole ride was slushy and compacted ice where cars and feet had been.

Bud and Lou were superb, however I was soaked completely within 1 mile.....the slush and spray around the cranks totally overwhelmed any mudguards.

Face and back were ok though the gears were not!
