You could look out for a Surly stainless ring (like those on my cro-mega)...

Yeah but unfortunately the spider replacement is for the newer cranks not old ones like mine. I have found a cheapy thanks to a previous poster on this thread.
So...getting there, rear cassette and chain replaced just the outer ring then the old girl is good to go.
