Re-sized the pic but can't help with the identification other than telling you it's not SRAM.

Looks a bit dia-compe/ Suntour to me. May say on the back of the arms or perhaps on the pads.

...I'm getting a vague memory that 'Red S' was it's own brand though :?

I think it might be the Freewheel catalogue's own brand.

Just had a look on the back of the caliper is "400" on both side arms and Fibrax on the pads

I seem to remember from way back they were manufactured by Universal for freewheel or one of the early catalogue companys

IIRC RedS was indeed Freewheel/ Madison own brand. I only got as far as their headset, black plastic version of the Stronglight A9.

The caliper itself looks like DiaCompe Gran Compe in silver but the QR mechanism end and fitting looks lower model DiaCompe...like a Bulldog
