The Retrobike EU referendum!!

I would vote in and hope we have some strong politicians.

All the problems with the EU people refer to are caused by our lazy xenophobic politicians. For generations they have happily sat back and allowed the Germans, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italians, et al make all the decisions and do all the work and then they have the gall to moan that all the rules are made to suit said countries and f*ck us up the arse.

As others have stated, as a small country with no manufacturing industry to speak of which imports a large proportion of it's energy we would be screwed if we left the EU.

People really do not realise what an incredibly good position the uk is in, freinds and allies with incle sam on one hand and a memeber of arguably one of the largest economic power blocs in the world, and there are those who wish to jeopardise this because 'they're not going to be told what to do by the frogs/krauts/spics (delete as applicable). It's called pissing in the soup.

So all the naysayers, what advantages do you thonk you would benefit from by standing alone ?

Oh yeah just thought, all those who drive ford, audi, vw, seat, alfa, citroen, peugeot, renault, bmw, mercedes and any other car/van made in the eu will be stuffed for around 30% extra on parts, never mind you can always go back to driving British.

Oh hang on........

When we had free trade before the unites states of europe each country had it's own rules, could govern it'self and generally people had an identitiy, a national reason if you will

then some buisness's and goverments thought it would be an idea to tidy things up and at first in the marriage things went tentively well. but then as with most things that are driven by government and business it quickly got hijacked and to this day favours big business more than people and individual government staff who are all feeding at the trough of the many

In many ways it's like an abusive relationship..time and time again when the piss is being taken out of us brits we get governments saying ..look we know it's out of balance we will address it but they rarely do and every year the eu demands more money, more control and more rights are being taken away

as to the euro being a largest economic power blocs..it doesn't take to much digging to see the reason why they do not want greece to leave..once one country goes the whole pack will collapse with only possibly germany strong enough to see it through

as to no industry..then the reverse of that is why we buy a lot from others so yes we are in an incredibly strong position. we are as valueable to europe not only for what we put in financially but also in our spending power..don't under estimate just how powerfull the uk is

the naysayers are the ones who say oo best we stay in because one day it might just might work out and every year they take more, take more away from us and every year we moan about what could have been

so one easy question follows how many of you in the real world would stay in a relationship were you put 80% in and your partner only puts in 20% ?

There is a good reason why succesive governments have not allowed uk citizens to have a euro referendum as other countries have been allowed to do ....and it's because they know the greatest vote against europe would happen and other countries would demand the vote and follow

Germany is doing great, I say forget joining the EU, I want Angela Merkel to be our PM, she's got to be better than any of the muppets we have to choose from.

You may have a point with how life was before the EU. And if the whole of the EU disbanded and everyone went their separate ways then yes, it could well work for us. The problem will be if we pull out and the rest carry on as they are we will be screwed.

she's got a fantastic (greek) arse.
I'll forgive her anything!

"The press do a great job of poo pooing the EU, not just the Daily Mail, but then it's in their interests to do so. Don't just buy what they tell you, look into it yourselves"

Interesting stuff...could I be....wrong?

Please recommend a good independent source where I can find out more about EU gubbins

I don't reckon it is an indicator of Daily Mail reading ignorance to be anti EU.

Reckon we would do just fine without being part of it.

So what if some goods become a little more expensive? On the flipside, home advantage would stimulate more industry that is currently non viable.

Trade agreements would be mutually agreed, and being independent would open up whole new markets for us.

Ok points taken, let me ask again, where is all the investment goin to come from to get Great Britain back to the massive world player it was before, where is our steel industry, shipbuilders, car makers ?
The reason there has neen no referendum isbecause ech govt know the UK is better off beung within the EU.
