I use seal picks not these in particular but similar ones that cost the same price a few years back. Handy for allsorts of little faffy jobs.

it went surprisingly easy - used a teeny watchmakers screwdriver to prise off at the inner bearing - the seal is a steel ring with rubber coating and rubber edges so lifts off pretty easy.

flushed and packed with grease and LH is fine but RH is rough - will see how it goes but that for sure will need to be replaced pretrty sooon, if not now. bought pair of fancy ceramic hybrid bearings from China off you know where.

.... and an update - seems the messing around has rejuvenated the bearing - the crank spins freely now whereas previuosly it wouldn't and felt lumpy. :D

.... but there is a creaking noise when pedalling that needs inverstigating so the bearings may need replacement after all......

Bearing Seals

Yeah you can easily remove them, i sell bearings and we do it all the time, a very small flat head screw driver does the trick just dont be too heavy handed and whatever you do DO NOT put the bearing in a vice to hold it!
