hey guys,
i'm currently going through some changes on my aluminium 2009 hardrock bike frame, like brazing off the v-brake mounts, re-spray, internal cabling holes etc... i was wondering if it was possible to change the headtube size from 1 1/8" to 1.5" or tapered steerer without weakening the frame?
if so where can i get it done?
thanks

Not easily no. Due to heat treating etc. and possible unforeseen stresses on the frame that werent accounted for when it was built. Would be costly to get done if possible.
Also, seems like a lot of work to a hard rock frame, have you thought of upgrading the frame first?

You cant with an aluminium frame. Taking out a headtube and replacing with another is difficult and not cost effective on a steel frame, on an alu frame, and with respect, a hardrock, save your pennies and buy a frame with what you want.
