Olympic track bikes...

Never let it be said that the UCI strangle innovation

You've got to wonder how much faster GB cyclists could go if they were allowed a free hand in their bike design.

...bearing in mind they're carbon fibre that's impressive!

You do realise that Mercedes and others use CF for driveshafts these days?

If CF components can take the huge torque that a 6 litre V8 can put out, I'm sure they can handle the demands of even the most powerful cyclist.

Absolutely no idea they used it for driveshafts or suchlike!!! That is impressive!! Although I would be interested in seeing the torque output of a pro track cyclist as I remember Performance Bikes putting a very unfit journo on a pedally moped thing on a dyno and getting something like 7bhp and 140 odd doodahs of torque!!! (doodahs because I can never remember if its ft/lb or lb/ft because I'm into air rifles too...)
