1995 merlin titanium. finished.

Think the steer is to chunky being aluminium on the steer tube the stems meant for older steel steer tubes, USE steers are the same as PACE steer well beefed up on the inner part of the Alloy steer tubes ;)

Liking your build mate will end up looking awesome :D

to get my mind off the stem situation, i decided to see what it would look like with some wheels & the fork.

for the moment i may have to settle for a nice aluminium stem.

i will be getting a nice tune bottom bracket tomorrow. :D

just hit another snag with this build.
i was sure the bottom bracket i needed was 113 mm.
so the bottom bracket turned up today.
fitted the bottom bracket and mounted the crank.
and it turns out to be too long.
so has anyone used an xtr m900 crank on a merlin,
if so what size should i be using.
this bike is really becoming a challenge.
but need to look at the positives.

i dug out a deore crankset and put the xtr chainrings on the deore crank.
and it fits perfect.
so does anyone know of a better crank that will fit this bottom bracket.
or should i get polishing the deore crank.

Put the M900 driveside crank back on and measure from the middle ring to the middle of the seat tube. It should be between 47.5mm and 50mm (go for 47.5 if the seat tube is on the smaller side). Since it isn't 47.5-50mm, work out what the difference is, multiply by 2 and take away from 113.

got in from work today and got some nice stuff off the postie.
i'm very happy with the canti hanger, solved a big problem running the brakes.
although i still need to sort the bottom bracket out, i'm very happy with the progress.
i need some suggestions for what grips to use.
and the stem is just temporary for now, til i source a shiny titanium stem.
although i've always liked the pace stems.
