re-waterproofing - how?

Had a go at reproofing my Endura Venturi Event jacket last night. The instructions say use a warm steam iron. Amazing result, water beads up and runs off the fabric like it was new again. Top stuff!
There's a place near us that reproofs horse rugs, I had my Gore jacket done when we took my daughters pony rugs in.
It's pretty industrial stuff because the ponies are out in all weathers, all of the winter, almost certainly better quality than over the counter stuff I'd imagine, she charged £16.50 to wash and reproof the rugs and a £5.00 for my jacket.
My jacket now floats in the bath, and after a quick shake, dries almost instantly
