Snap! Mine got FOUR votes in Feb BOTM!

I think that there were at least half a dozen in this paint job on the market about 4 years ago - don't know the "history".

Picked this up on ebay the other day, well my Dad did from cambourne, not seen it yet but he has sent me some pics, see below.

I think its pretty early but not sure of the year or what would have been original equipment.

It needs a very good clean/polish from the looks of it, should keep me busy over the summer. Frame will stay as is and might get the wheels rebuilt with stainless spokes.

Should there be a serial number? If so where?

Any other info much appreciated :D

Also LGF - does this count for your lugged crown reynolds framed bike thread :D

OMFG , that is truley outstanding

That has to be around 1985 I would guess and most of it would appear to be original , apart from R/H thumbie, tyres and saddle.

Well done for rescuing this.

GM, thanks for he info, have done some reading since posting this, plan as it stand is:

- Dismantle/clean/regrease/polish
- Replace R/H thumbie
- Replace saddle - Brooks B66 seems to be the one to have
- Get some new tyres - I'd like a square block tread - LGF has some nice black wall tiogas on one of his mystery bikes that look the business.
- Re-build wheels with S/S spoked ones (don't have the time or inclination to deal with galvanised ones)

Will post up a build thread when I get started.

sure, but the chickens have the final say...

Cluck?

Yeah, they said go for it. Finding the original brake blocks may be tricky but worth it as its another bit of alloy to polish.

The chickens also suggest you have a look at this sale post for your rear mech:

Ive changed the bars, stem and tyres, the bars & stem that came on it weren't original and the seat post was stuck but that has now been sorted.

Here is a pic of my 1990 Saracen Tufftrax Comp in it's pre finished build.
