Old Avid V Brakes

Just acquired these old Avid V's and never seen any like them before.
Rough idea of age would be good and how are they braking wise
Currently fitted with Ritchey Canti Pads, instead of a locating pin they have a nut that presumably does a similar job in securing them to the pivot mount

Got a mini review of those in an old Mountain Bike World mag I'm sure. Circa, 97 ish.

Can't remember name though, will have a look if you don't get any better info before this eve.
 
Thanks for the reply, just curious really, must have been some of the earliest V type brakes by the look of them
 
there are some avid cantilever that looks great, but I cono find it. They cost more than the actual ultimate.
