I have the VW TDI 130 engine, its been running about 70 horsepower for a while as an inditerminate fualt meant the turbo was by-passed by the ECU

anyway, replaced the boost control valve - no joy

disconnected the Mass air flow sensor - wallah! about 100 bhp which means I can now accelerate uphill!

now, is this a definite fault with the MAF or something further along the line, split pipe etc.

Its run for between 6 hrs to 11 hours 5 days a week 100 to 250 miles a day with regular oil but little else.

Not sure but MAF sensors seem to be a reasonably common issue on those engines- my old man's Golf TDI had one replaced, as did a couple of mates'.

Or try taking it out and get some conductive grease, and apply to the insert and lob it back in.

Should work.

If not, but a new air flow meter....GSF are cheap enough for VAG stuff.
