Fox Forx F80 X

These are advertised as "terrain sensitive, inertia valve activated, fully automatic lockout". I've never liked anything "auotmatic" rather than a manual look out. Automatic to me means that you are relying on the equipment not to be faulty!!

Are these forks worth it? Is there a manual set out there which are better

F80X are pure racing forks. If you have a hardtail or Specialized Epic and prefer absolute speed instead of maximum suppleness, then the X model is great. Otherwise you might want look for Fox F80 RL/RLT/RLC models. The 2009 model is available with a remote lockout lever. The RLT and RLC models have a threshold adjustment with which you can set the fork to work almost as the X model but also have an option to run it full open as well.
