Cam Belt changes

I have always had garages do this is it scares me but in another forum I saw what seems a very easy way to do one. It probably won't work with all but might work with many, anyway this is what was posted.

There was a programme on this week where someone was rebuilding a Nissan GTR engine, about as complicated as engines get. To change the cambelt they simply ran a Stanley knife through the old belt while hand cranking the engine so they were able to remove about 3/4 of the width of the old belt leaving 1/4 in place. Then slipped the new belt as far as it would go over all the pulleys, then cut what was left of the old belt away and finished sliding the new belt on. No need to worry about timing marks or special tools.

Might help someone?
