Where can I get a bracket to fit that bad boy to my handlebars? :p

Re:

Just fit a set of barends, it looks like it will just fit between them

Last time I used lights, it was a cateye thing, with a halogen bulb and two A size batteries... I have no idea how many lumens, but not many!

What sort of light do these give? Brightness, distance, etc. How do they compare to car headlights, for example?

Re:

They are pretty close to car headlights nowadays. I remember testing the strobe setting out in London one evening. Every reflective surface for about 1/10 mile around was strobing in time to the light. Truly obnoxious.

The real difference is how cars treat you. Many will dip their headlights way before they become a nuisance now - and you too have to be careful to angle your light accordingly. I think it's quite possible to dazzle a car driver with these. I was about ten feet away from a parked car once and the entire interior was light it up as the result of my light.

Excellent for off roading at night, of course. Be warned though - the batteries have no water proofing whatsoever. The contacts on one set rusted through in about a month.

I take their outputs with a pinch of salt but they are bright and good value all the same. Just battery and mounting to brush up on.

Re:

Having read a few reviews, I think that the sellers are quoting the theoretical maximum output of the particular LED unit, CREE XML U2, CREE XML T6, etc., multiplied by the number of LEDs, rather than the actual measured output of the lamp unit and battery they're selling. This makes their quoted lumens wildly optimistic.

But, as LGF says, they're still pretty damn bright, and at around £20.00, what we were paying for something with a lumen output that would be measured in single digits a decade ago. They also make branded lights by Hope, Lupine, Exposure, etc. look ludicrously over priced; I'm sure they're better quality, but I'm not sure they're 5 or 10 times better. :?

However, there don't seem to be any cheap all-in-one, self contained and easily detached light units yet, the type that you want if you need to quickly remove your lights while you pop into a shop, or have to leave your bike locked up outside work, etc.. This sort of thing:
