Scotland independence and the armed forces?

Should they go it alone and claim to be their own country, will we have to sack all scots from the armed forces, police forces and secret services and will we have to remove the nuclear deterent from there.

In effect we may as well employ bulgarians, germans etc as they also are their own country and have nothing to do with the union

what say you?

salmon has apart from the emotive...been incredibly lacking in real world information

Salmon? Crikey, it looks like this thread is incredibly lacking in real world information.

Why exactly is there any issue with Scots continuing to serve in the remaining UK's police forces and such, as they wish or not?

Scotland is its own country, regardless of the powers we cede to Westminster.

I'd love to hear how it's lacking?

If you go independant you can't pick and choose bits and certianly in the armed forces and secret service, if your no longer a union country then your not in the union and effectively a foreign country and as such not eligible as would any non union individual

Hadrian's Wall back in service?

In theory yes. In practice, I assume there would be a bunch of bi-lateral agreements to sort it out. Interesting times though.

So all servicemen currently serving in the forces are citizens of the UK?

Tripe.

Scots do indeed make up a disproportionate number of the forces, so perhaps the question is how would they cope if they did not come to some arrangement?

Salmond has said he expects Faslane to be shut down and the nukes removed from Scotland.
