1994 Orange P7 project.

El Shando

Retro Newbie
Just picked up a bike I've always wanted, since about '96 and someone at the Forest of Dean spanked past me with a shiny steed of gorgeousness.

Previous owner had this from new, and the only non original parts were pads, some panaracers that it was shod with and the yeti grips.

Swapped out the panaracers for the set of Wildgrippers I had since new, tucked away for 17 odd years.

It's not in bad nick but I think I may have to rub back to the nickel coating and have it re laquered.

Nice.

Let me know how you get on with the frame...

I've just started pulling mine to bits and am wondering what to do about the frame.

Once I get it cleaned up properly, I'll take some pics and see what the general consensus is.

Nice, they're great light bikes. Here's mine with STX and Wildgrippers.

And, I picked up another, for the bars stem and post. No idea what to do with this one.

Well, you could sell the rest of it! What size is it? ;)

And WTF is going on with the bars/gear shifters and brake levers?!

19" I think, the bars etc are parts bin left over.
The DX and XT thumbies have made it to another bike.
I was messing with an alternative bar setup, Humpert trekking bars,.

I'll probably sell F&F at some point, moved house which is my current project.

Re:

i really like these but any that ive seen for sale have been covered in rust spots. whats the score with the finish and restoring it/ensuring it doesn't rust agin ?

Re:

Scrub the rust off & re-lacquer!

Very durable is the nickel plating in reality - most P7's have stood the test of time including mine which is coming up to its 20th birthday soon!

Re:

How do you scrub back the finish?

I saw a thread a while back where the guy used tin foil.

Tried it on my forks and I don't really know how hard to scrub.

When he did it it made the frame really shiny, when I did it it made it quite dull.
