Ah the one I knew previously must have been a 1988 - was the '88 similar finish but without the black front (and 6spd)? That's how I remember it.

Great bike! I bought one in 89 when I was 16. It was my very first MTB after saving up for 2 years. If you ever want to sell it please let me know. Great to see again, thanks.

I am luckily enough to have an example of both 88 and 89, I had the later with XTII BITD, my first quality MTB, raced it at the Malvern Hills Classic 1990 amongst others.
