Raleigh RSP Freeride

Somedays are better than others, Fact.

Seen this advertised 15mins from my house and had to have it. I used to work in what was a raleigh 5star dealership back in the mid 1990's and when these came out thought they were the greatest 2 wheel creation ever but due to the lack of available readies they were always just a pipe dream.

You guys really are going to enjoy the condition and originality of this one, key points to note are the v-brakes still have the little protective foam sticker on the side and the chainstays have never had any protection yet there isnt a single mark left by the chain, im guessing <50 miles in its lifetime.

Everything feels brand new, not even any cable rub on the paint, the forks are silky smooth as is the shock, even the braking surface on the rims still has that machined finish it has when new.

These pictures are as I picked it up thisafternoon, its not been washed or prepped in any way just as iv got it, it appears the bars and seatpost are non-standard but everything else is totally box fresh, i would even guess the cables are the originals. The guy also chucked in the original orance conti tyres.

I will let the pictures explain what im babbling about, enjoy a british company at its best:

The bars need changing and i cant believe how short the top tube is.

There really cant be many around in this condition anymore.

Is this the one that finished on evil bay yesterday? I was sorely tempted myself, but considering likelihood of divorce I thought better of it! I'm really glad to see it go to a good home though. In my humble opinion they're the best bike Raleigh ever built. Enjoy mate!

Yea it was the one on ebay, only saw it with a few hours to go and thought bollox to it, im having it.

My original intention was to get one and modernise it a bit with some air forks and shock but this one is so nice im deeply tempted to leave it as is and use it for hay days and holidays.

The only issue is i know its too small for me to really use properly and the springs are way too soft but its a lovely thing to own.

Anyone know where there might be a firm spring kit for a set of Judy XL's?

Fairly happy is an understatement.

Kind of wish id never sold my RSP jump bike with the flame paint job as they would of made a lovely pair.

In a similar vain, had I purchased it the one change I would have made would be to swap the Judy's out for a set of Boxxer 151's. Edge it towards the DHO spec. I'm not sure if they made a firm ride kit for the Judy XL/XLC's myself, but do what you can to get out and ride her properly, those bikes are LOTs of fun!

I know what you mean, if i can get it sorted for my weight then it will be ridden properly dont worry about that, they did do a firm kit but i imagine finding one could be needle in haystack stuff.

Fork wise I was thinking along the lines of 120-140 travel air forks, ala 2005 Z1 lites or similar, matched to an RP23 shock. My wifes bike has a set of 2011 marz corsa SL's on it at 120 and they are 15mm longer alex to crown than the judys.

One of my goals for this bike is to sail past some 6k carbon all mountain rigs down some black routes, not that im competitive or anything

Very nice bike. It is the first time I have seen one of those.
You could go down the modernisation route as it could look awesome if done properly and will be a total one off as well :)

Think you'll find the bar is standard? It's certainly the same as the one that came with mine (see below)...

...and I think I still have the OEM seatpost if you would like it?
